Art movements, media and methods are some of our favourite ‘M’ terms, as well as:

Mannerism – A 16th-century style that followed the Renaissance, known for its exaggerated poses and sophisticated compositions.

Marble – A classic sculptural material, especially important in ancient and Renaissance art.

Medium – The material or technique used to create an artwork (e.g., oil, ink, clay).

Metalwork – A form of applied art involving decorative or functional objects made of metal.

Minimalism – A 20th-century art movement focusing on simplicity, repetition, and pure form.

Mixed media – The use of more than one material or medium in a single artwork.

Modeling – A technique in sculpture and drawing used to create the illusion of form or volume.

Modernism – A broad movement that revolutionised art in the late 19th and early 20th centuries through abstraction and innovation.

Monochrome – Art made using one color or hue, often to emphasise form or mood.
