‘S’ is such a lovely letter, just the shape of it conjures creative imagery. Some super ‘S’ terms for you…

Sculpture – A major category of 3D art, encompassing a wide range of forms and materials.

Sfumato – A Renaissance painting technique of soft, gradual transitions between colours and tones (famously used by Leonardo da Vinci).

Shape – A fundamental element of art referring to enclosed areas in two dimensions (2D).

Silkscreen – A printmaking process used in both fine art and commercial design (a favorite of Andy Warhol).

Sketch – A quick or preliminary drawing used to develop ideas.

Space – A design principle that deals with depth, perspective, and the relationship between positive and negative areas.

Stippling – A drawing or painting technique using small dots to build texture, tone, or shading.

Stretcher bars – Wooden frames used to stretch and support canvas.

Symmetry – A type of balance where elements are mirrored or evenly distributed.
